On March 13th you will receive an email to the email address listed in Skyward from Lyman_Counselors@scps.k12.fl.us. It will provide you with directions on how to view your preloaded academic core classes based on Lyman’s course progressions. In this email, you will also receive a link to a Google Form to complete your elective choices.
**Please Note: The link for Engineering Magnet Students is different than non engineering students, so make sure you use the link YOU received in your email.

If your student does NOT currently attend a SCPS middle school (i.e. Charter, Private, etc), you MUST complete a Pre-Enrollment process.
- If you Do Not have any students currently in SCPS visit the New Student Online Enrollment Form to get started.
- If you Do currently have at least one active student in SCPS in your direct family, please begin the enrollment process in your Parent Skyward Access.
- For enrollment questions, please email Lyman_Enrollment@scps.k12.fl.us
Lyman will not be able to input your course selections until this process is complete. Delay could result in not getting your first choice selections.
**You will not be able to view any preloaded core academics in Skyward. You will instead select your own core academic courses in your google web form. We recommend you work with your current counselor and teachers to get assistance with choosing classes.

Lyman has developed course progressions based on years of research analyzing student grades, test scores, and results. Our team used these progressions to place each student into their English, Math, and Science courses.

Yes, Absolutely! While we take care to place students in appropriate courses, you and your parent have the ultimate say in what courses are right for you You know you best! Simply complete the Course Change Override Form to request a change.

If you were preloaded into Intensive Reading 1 for next year it means that you are in an Intensive Reading Course in 8th grade OR your FAST ELA test scores from last May was below a level 3. However, if you acheive a level 3 or above on your FAST ELA test this coming May 2026, Lyman will automatically take you out of the Intensive Reading 1 class and place you in one of your alternate elective choices.

Lyman makes every attempt to give students their top choices. However, sometimes due to too many students signing up for certain courses, we simply cannot guarantee you will get your top choices. It’s very important to give careful thought to your alternate course choices just in case!!

.5 credit of Personal Fitness and .5 credit of a PE Elective are required for graduation. However, there are several different waivers that can allow students to exempt some or all of the PE requirement.
- If you play two full seasons of an FHSAA sactioned sport for Lyman HS, regardless of level (Freshman, JV, Varsity) it will waive BOTH the Personal Fitness AND PE Elective requirement. Lyman Athletic Programs
- If you complete .5 credit with a grade of C in Marching Band, you can waive ONLY the PE Elective.
- If you complete .5 credit of a Dance class, you can waive ONLY the PE Elective.
- Completing two years of JROTC will waive ONLY the PE Elective.

We recommend that you work with your current teachers and counselor to select appropriate course levels. Your middle school will schedule you for an IEP or 504 Transition Meeting this Spring to udpate your student’s plan for high school. A representive from Lyman will be in attendance at these meetings.

If you applied and have offiicially accepted a seat in the Lyman Engineering Academy Magnet Program through the School Assignment and Program Access department, then congratulations and welcome to this prestigious program. On March 13th you will receive a registration email with directions on how to complete your course registration. This link will be specific to Engineering students since their selections are different than non engineering students. Engineering students will be automatically loaded into their 9th grade Engineering course called “Introduction to Engineering”. This is the only required Engineering course for 9th grade.
